I’ve been Lead Pastor of this awesome church family since June of 2008. I enjoy all manner of sports, getting outdoors, hiking, and building stuff. I also love to inspire, teach, serve alongside others, and have fun in the process! I might be the only pastor on staff, but I don’t do it alone! I serve with a pretty decent Board and an excellent host of capable and committed volunteers. I prefer dark roast coffee and hope the Blue Jays win the World Series again really soon…Last but certainly not least, I am the blessed husband of Meagan and father of Emma and Micah!
“We exist to GATHER in fellowship, GROW in our relationship with Christ, and GIVE our lives to serve others!”
GATHER—building relationships at Sunday service, BG Club, Youth, Specialized Studies, or by just hanging out together
GROW in Worship—experiencing the presence of God in corporate and private worship
GROW in Discipleship—learning through sermons, Bible studies, personal devotions
WE VALUE GOD, His inspired and infallible Word, His redemptive purpose in Christ for the world, and His presence through the Holy Spirit.
WE VALUE ALL PEOPLE—next door or halfway around the world, to whom we owe the compassion of Christ and an opportunity to receive the Gospel and enter into Christian fellowship.
WE VALUE BELIEVERS, their personal commitment to Christ, their God-given gifts, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, discipleship, Christian family life, and the fulfillment of the will of God.
WE VALUE OUR COMMUNITY and the communities represented by our church—seeking to demonstrate the love of God to all. Our desire is to live according to the principles of the Bible and to serve our community.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant word of God; the final authority for faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12-13)
We believe God eternally exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
THE PERSON OF CHRIST
We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for our sin and rose from the dead, and is coming back again. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Acts 1:9, 10; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2; 1 Peter 4:5; Romans 14:9; 2 Timothy 4:1)
THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin and empowers believers for service. (John 16:8-11; 2 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18). We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. (Acts 2:4; 10:44-46;15:8,9) and in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit which enables a believer to live a holy life. (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 3:15-16)
THE NEED OF MAN
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that through disobedience (sin) was separated from God. (Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 3:22, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3,12)
We believe that the only remedy for man’s sin is to receive, through faith, forgiveness provided through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 5:10; Romans 10:13-15)
THE HEALING POWER OF GOD
We believe that God does hear and answer prayer, and in His ability to heal. (John 15:7; 1 John 5:14, 15, Isaiah 53:4; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:13-14; Romans 12:1–8; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 Peter 4:10-11)
We believe that the church, consists of all true followers of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:22, 23; 5:25-27; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Acts 14:27; 18:22; 20:17; 1 Timothy 3:1-3; Titus 1:5-11). We recognize believer’s baptism, by immersion (Matthew 28:19), and the Lord’s Supper as scriptural means of testimony for the church (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 2:41, 42; Acts 18:8; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
We believe that Jesus Christ will return to take believers with Him to heaven, that believers who have died will be resurrected to eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). We believe Christ will come again in power and glory to judge the living and the dead(John 12:48; Romans 2:2,6,11,16; Revelation 8:19-23), and that His kingdom will have no end (Matthew 13:43; John 17:24; Revelation 21:1-2,10,22-23). Unbelievers together with all evildoers will be judged for their evil deeds and spend eternity in hell (Jude 6; Revelation 20:10,15; 20:11-15). Believers in Christ will be rewarded for their deeds and spend eternity in heaven with God (Romans 14:10-12; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15).
